Art Adventure: Veggie Prints

I was on vacation and came back to some veggies that were no longer edible. I also needed a simple art project. It went together too perfectly.

Veggie Prints

Supplies:

• any vegetables, sliced or cut (potatoes can be cut into any shape)
• tempera paint
• paper
• waxed paper

I just took an assortment of veggies that were on their last legs (but you can use fresh if you want to), sliced them and blotted them on a paper towel if they were too watery.

I squeezed the paint onto waxed paper, but you can use a piece of cardboard, a paper plate, whatever you have. I smeared the paint into a thin layer so the prints would be less "gobby." (Is that a word?)

Lay everything out and give your child a piece of paper. 

Dip a veggie into the paint.

Then press onto your paper.

Lift up to reveal the print. And then keep going.

My little guy is three and he really loved this.

He did one by himself and then we did one together.
